Why Choose the Mount Auburn Hospital Employee Assistance Program?

The Employee Assistance Program of Mount Auburn Hospital has served the business community for over 20 years. We understand the needs of both the employer and the company's most valuable asset, its employees. From counseling individual employees and their household members, to consulting with supervisory staff about workplace issues, we know the issues and situations that impact both the individual and the larger work groups. We offer proactive training programs in Supervision, Stress Management, Wellness and more. And when a workplace crisis occurs, we can come onsite to your company to assist staff in groups or in individual sessions.

All EAPs provide professional and confidential services, but Mount Auburn Hospital EAP excels at delivering personal attention to your company, developing a collaborative relationship with management, and providing prompt, accessible services to all employees and household members.

Counseling excellence is the cornerstone of our Employee Assistance Program. Clients meet face-to-face with counselors in a private, professional setting. Alternatively, they may choose to have a telephone consultation.

Our expertise in human relationships underlies all of our work with our client companies. We know that companies are made up of individuals, who bring their personal strengths, and at times their personal difficulties, to the workplace. Mount Auburn Hospital EAP can help individual employees, while also helping your company gain from the strengths of these employees.

Industry literature notes the following benefits to offering an Employee Assistance Program. To see how the Mount Auburn Hospital EAP is well suited to each of them, access the links below:

Recruitment and Retention

The presence of an EAP is increasingly requested by employees, and is a significant addition to your overall benefits package.

The services offered by the EAP assist employees in many areas, from counseling, to help with child or elder care, or legal and financial concerns. Employers invest a great deal in each employee, and services which help employees address personal or family concerns enable them to be more focused on their work. Studies have shown that an EAP can also help to reduce absenteeism, by assisting with the dependent care issues that frequently cause employees to miss work.

The Mount Auburn EAP provides education and information about life transitions, mental health concerns, substance abuse, family relationships, and more. We participate in Health Fairs and Wellness campaigns, proactively engaging your employees in strategies and tools to promote and maintain a healthy and productive workplace.

Supporting a good employee is less costly than recruiting, hiring and training a new employee.

Productivity:

Because each company has an Account Manager who takes the time to understand your workplace, services are developed and promoted to maximize the impact of the EAP for your employees.

The Mount Auburn Hospital EAP can provide early intervention for troubled employees, reducing the likelihood that they will be out of work, or create difficult situations for their work group. Our counselors are available to consult by telephone or to come onsite to your company to meet with managers and supervisors. We take pride in building relationships with core individuals in Human Resources, Employee Health, Safety, and other departments. Early consultation can reduce or eliminate many of the costs to an organization of an employee in need of help.

Our counselors have additional training in substance abuse, and can thus offer particular support and resources to individuals and their household members who are dealing with addictions. It is estimated that 10% of American workers struggle with alcoholism and another 4% have addictions to other drugs. Research shows that employees who use the EAP for chemical dependency treatment had 44% fewer lost workdays.

Mount Auburn Hospital EAP staff includes certified Substance Abuse Professionals, who can perform the SAP evaluations required by the Department of Transportation.

Cost Savings:

Industry research over the past twenty years continues to show that companies save from $4.00 to $7.00 for every dollar they spend on a core Employee Assistance Program. A recent study noting the impact of illness on the workplace found that depression alone can cost a 1000-employee company $880,000 in one year in lost time and reduced productivity. The Mount Auburn Hospital EAP works proactively to promote wellness awareness and access to mental health services.

The Mount Auburn Hospital EAP provides information, resources, and direct services to employees and their household members. We promote our services via email, mailings, posters, fliers, and our website, so that your employees can access help when they need it.

Management Consultation:

The Mount Auburn Hospital EAP assists managers and supervisors to better focus on developing and maintaining a productive workforce. We come onsite with our Supervisor Orientation, which helps supervisors identify those employees who might benefit from EAP services. In addition, the EAP offers the opportunity to consult with trained professional staff on difficult workplace issues. Such consultation is available by telephone, in person, or onsite. The EAP works with your Human Resources staff to help supervisors implement your policies or to consult on the development of new policies.

Through our specialized Supervisor Training series, the EAP brings you up-to-date programming to promote excellence in managing the workforce. From introductory supervision skills, to team building, conflict resolution and performance evaluations, our training programs enhance the existing strengths of your managers, while adding new skills to help them be more effective on the job.
