EAP MODELS:

There are two basic models that are chosen by most companies. The above services may be provided in each model, as selected by the client company.

Assess and Refer Model:

In this model, employees will receive one to three visits with a professional mental health counselor, to address concerns facing that employee. If additional sessions are needed to fully meet the individual's needs, the EAP will coordinate with the employee's health insurer to locate a qualified and appropriate clinician for follow-up counseling. The EAP will follow-up with the individual to confirm that this referral is meeting his or her needs. These services are available to each employee and to any household members. There is no limit on the number of times an employee may contact the EAP for different issues during the contract period.

Short-Term Counseling Model:

This model includes the basic one to three sessions offered above, and adds up to four, six, or eight additional counseling sessions for the employee or household member. The exact number is determined by the company service agreement. In many cases, this is enough to meet the individual's needs. If further services are needed, the EAP will work with the employee's health insurer to locate a qualified and appropriate mental health provider. As in the previous model, the EAP will follow-up with the individual to assure that the services are meeting his or her needs.
